Who is Vulnerable? BakBone Software NetVault 6.x
BakBone Software NetVault 7.x
Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability exists in BakBone NetVault. The vulnerability is caused due to insufficient boundary checking in the communication handling code of both the client and server components. A simple attack will result in an unexpected termination of the target service, creating a denial of service condition. In a more sophisticated case, an attacker can remotely inject and execute arbitrary code.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your product to the latest update. For information on how to update , go to SBP-2006-05, Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the BakBone NetVault Messages Buffer Overflow - ver 2 protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all modules.
