Vulnerability Description | Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) is a container format for storing images, including photographs and line art. A buffer overflow vulnerability has been discovered in the way that Microsoft Office parses specially crafted TIFF image files. The vulnerability is due to an error in Microsoft Office TIFF Image Converter that fails to properly convert data from Big Endian format to the Little Endian format while parsing TIFF image files. A remote attacker may trigger this issue by convincing a user to open an Office document containing a specially crafted TIFF image file. By persuading a user to open the malformed file, an attacker could take complete control of an affected system. |
