Who is Vulnerable? EMC AutoStart prior to 5.5.0.508 (HF4)
Vulnerability Description A remote SQL injection vulnerability exists in EMC AutoStart. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of remotely supplied data within the ftagent component. A remote unauthenticated attacker can leverage this vulnerability by sending malicious requests to the ftagent process. Successful exploitation will result in execution of arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges on Windows platforms or root privileges on Unix-like systems.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the EMC AutoStart ftagent Opcode 85 Subcode 33 SQL Injection protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
