Who is Vulnerable? Apache Tika 1.13 and later, prior to 3.2.2
Vulnerability Description A XML external entity injection vulnerability in Apache Tika PDF Parser Module allows an attacker to carry out XML External Entity injection via a crafted XFA file inside of a PDF. An attacker may be able to read sensitive data or trigger malicious requests to internal resources or third-party servers.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R81 / R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Apache Tika PDF Parser Module XML External Entity Injection (CVE-2025-54988) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
