Vulnerability Description | Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Symantec SupportSoft ActiveX controls. SupportSoft provides third party ActiveX controls used for remote assistance and other technical support functions. A remote attacker could cause the browser to crash allowing execution of arbitrary commands.The vulnerabilities are due to multiple buffer overflow errors in Symantec SupportSoft ActiveX controls. SupportSoft fails to properly handle malformed arguments passed to certain methods. To trigger this flaw, an attacker can specially craft a malicious Web page that initiates a vulnerable ActiveX control with a malformed argument. Successful exploitation could result in remote code execution on the target system once the malicious page is loaded. |
