Vulnerability Description | RSync is an open source utility that provides fast incremental file transfer. A vulnerability exists in the way rsync handles remote client supplied paths. It is possible for a remote attacker to overwrite, create or delete arbitrary files on a remote rsync server. In case of a successful attack, a file on the target file system will be created, or overwritten. The number and type of files that can be affected depend on the privileges under which the rsync server is running. Further effects on the system are dependent on the file that was overwritten. |
