Vulnerability Description | Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 2004 is an anti-virus solution for both the Enterprise and the Desktop. There exists a vulnerability within Symantec Norton Anti-virus 2004 that allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service condition on a target system through a malicious call to a certain method of a vulnerable ActiveX control. In a case were code injection was not successfull, the attack can lead to system resource exhaustion. In a more sophisticated attack case, where the attacker knows the path of executable files, already residing on the target system, the attacker will be able to run an arbitrary code. The actual behavior of the attacked target will depend on the code being executed. |
