Vulnerability Description | Mozilla browsers use the W3C Document Object Model (DOM) to provide a structural representation of an HTML document and define the way this structure is to be accessed from scripts. One of the core objects exposed by DOM is the window object, which is used to represent a browser window. An HTML page author can use scripts to access the window object's properties, methods and event handlers. There exists a Cross Site Scripting vulnerability in Mozilla web browser and its derivatives. The flaw is caused by the execution of JavaScript code included in an "IFRAME" tag without sufficient checking of the site location context. A remote attacker may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the target's browser session in the context of an arbitrary site. A successful attack leveraging this vulnerability may result in a several outcomes. An attack may be crafted to bypass host name white-list restrictions for software installation, pop-up blocker, and image loading. Such an attack will result in an untrusted site being able to install software, pop up windows, or load images on the vulnerable browser. |
