Vulnerability Description | The Mozilla web browser and its derivatives, Firefox, Netscape, and K-Meleon are applications designed for tasks related to browsing the web, such as displaying HTML encoded pages, downloading files, etc. To conform to the W3C Naming and Addressing specification, these products use the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) to represent network and local resources. There exists a vulnerability in Mozilla web browser and its derivatives. The flaw is caused by insufficient validation when handling javascript URLs. A remote attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary JavaScript code with escalated privileges. A successful attack will result in arbitrary code execution with the privileges of currently logged in user. The behaviour of the target is dependent on the intention of the malicious code. The timing of the script execution will depend on the attack approach. |
