Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | The Internet Information Server (IIS) is a Web server packaged with several versions of the Windows operating system. The server is capable of serving static, as well as dynamic content. The server is equipped with the Active Server Pages (ASP) technology which is utilized for dynamic content generation. There exists an information disclosure vulnerability in Microsoft IIS. The vulnerability exists in the 500-100.asp, default error processing script, due to assumptions made based on the client controlled "SERVER_NAME" variable. A remote attacker can exploit the vulnerability using a specially crafted HTTP request to gain knowledge of script contents when an error is encountered. The target will not exhibit any unusual behaviour as a result of an attack. A successful attack exploiting this vulnerability can cause limited disclosure of source code of server-side ASP scripts. The information gained in such a way may aid the attacker in additional attacks. |
