Vulnerability Description | The Internet Information Server (IIS) is a collection of Internet services packaged with several versions of the Windows operating system. IIS includes a Web server service that is capable of serving static, as well as dynamic content. The Web server is equipped with the Active Server Pages (ASP) technology which is utilized for dynamic content generation. A source code disclosure vulnerability exists in the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS). The flaw is specific to the language and locale setting, and the file system type on which scripts are stored. This vulnerability may allow a user to download the source code of scripts that are meant to execute on the server side, thereby disclosing potentially sensitive information. The target will not exhibit any unusual behavior but a successful exploitation of this vulnerability will result in the source code of script files being served to the client as opposed to the output of the requested script. |
