Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | The Mozilla Firefox browser adheres to most published Internet standards and is capable of processing static as well as dynamic HTML content. In addition to supporting the general protocols and standards, the Mozilla browsers implement several custom standards, one of which is the XPCOM component technology, a cross-platform component object model. A vulnerability exists in numerous Mozilla products. The flaw concerns a memory corruption issue caused by a certain method. By persuading the target user to open a web page that contains malicious script, an attacker may execute arbitrary code on the target user's system. In a simple attack case, the affected browser application may terminate immediately after the malicious web page is opened. In a sophisticated attack scenario, where an attack results in successful injection and execution of supplied code, the behavior of the target system is dependent on the nature of the injected code. Any code injected into the vulnerable component will execute in the security context of the currently logged in user. |
