Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Oracle Database Server is an enterprise-level relational database application suite. To extend the functionality of the Oracle Database Server, extra packages of related program objects, i.e. procedures, functions, variables, constants, cursors, and exceptions, are provided in order to better manage the data. The included stored procedures and functions, or subprograms, are called by name and are optionally passed a set of parameters. They are essentially a set of SQL statements that are stored on the server-side, usually as pre-compiled SQL. There is an SQL injection vulnerability in the dbms_assert package of Oracle Database products. By writing specially crafted SQL statements, a malicious user can circumvent the SQL statement validation provided in the dbms_assert package. Successful attacks may inject and execute SQL statements with escalated privileges in the Database server. Exploitation of this vulnerability may result in privilege escalation. The exact behaviour of the target system is dependent on the intention of the attacker. It may be possible for an attacker to affect the target host beyond the confines of the database which would allow manipulation of the host system. |
