Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Apache HTTP server is a web server application that has a very broad user base. The software is made compliant to most W3C standards and recommendation. Apache HTTP server has a modular framework for developing and loading feature extension modules. Some of the Apache HTTP server features are shipped as official modules. There exist a cross-site scripting vulnerability in Apache mod_imap and mod_imagemap Module. The flaw is due to lack of validation of the user supplied input data. The flaw may be exploited by malicious users to execute arbitrary HTML code on target user's web browser, within the context of a trusted web site. An attack targeting this vulnerability can result in the injection and execution of script code. If code execution is successful, the behaviour of the target will depend on the intention of the attacker

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Apache mod_imap and mod_imagemap Module Cross-Site Scripting protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Apache Server Protection Violation.
Attack Information:  Apache mod_imap and mod_imagemap module cross-site scripting
