Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Database Server is an enterprise-level relational database application suite. To extend the functionality of the Oracle Database Server, extra packages of related program objects, e.g., procedures, functions, variables, constants, cursors, and exceptions, are provided in order to better manage the data. The included stored procedures and functions, or subprograms, are called by name and optionally passed a set of parameters. They are essentially a set of SQL statements that are stored on the server-side, usually as precompiled SQL. There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in Oracle Database Server product. The vulnerability exists due to an insufficient validation of arguments supplied to procedure PITRIG_TRUNCATE in XDB.XDB_PITRIG_PKG package. A remote attacker with valid user credentials may leverage this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code within the security context of the affected service. An attack targeting this vulnerability can result in the injection and execution of arbitrary code. In case of an attack, where code execution is successful, the behavior of the target will depend on the intention of the attacker. Any injected code will be executed within the security context of the affected service. In case of an attack, where code execution is not successful, the related Oracle database service may terminate abnormally.
