Vulnerability Description | Firefox is an open source web browser developed by Mozilla Foundation. The application is capable of interpreting and rendering many types of Internet content, including various versions of HTML, XML, CSS (Cascade Style Sheet), JavaScript, various graphic formats, and so on. Firefox is made available for Windows, Macintosh, Unix and Linux based platforms. There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in Mozilla Firefox. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of URL containing UTF-8 encoded characters. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing the target user to open a crafted web page. Successful exploitation would allow for arbitrary code injection and execution with the privileges of the currently logged on user. An attack targeting this vulnerability can result in the injection and execution of arbitrary code. If code execution is successful, the behavior of the target will depend on the intention of the attacker. Any injected code will be executed within the security context of the currently logged in user. In the case of an unsuccessful code execution attack, the application would terminate abnormally. |
