Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | The Network Node Manager (NNM) is an HP OpenView product which manages networks. It determines and displays physical and logical connectivity in networks, as well as information referring to protocols running over the network. Multiple heap buffer overflow vulnerabilities exist in HP OpenView Network Node Manager (NNM). The vulnerabilities are due to a boundary error in ovsessionmgr.exe and ovlogin.exe when processing the 'userid' and 'passwd' parameters sent in an HTTP request. A remote unauthenticated attacker can exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a crafted HTTP request to a target server, potentially causing arbitrary code to be injected and executed in the security context of the SYSTEM user. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
