Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | FFmpeg is a set of libraries and executables that can be used to record, convert and stream digital audio and video in numerous formats. FFmpeg is a command line tool that is composed of a collection of free software / open source libraries. It includes libavcodec, an audio/video codec library used by several other projects, and libavformat, an audio/video container mux and demux library. A vulnerability exists in FFmpeg audio/video converter. This vulnerability is due to lack of boundary checks on a user supplied value in processing of 4XM movie files. An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by enticing a user to play a specially crafted 4XM movie file. Successful exploitation would cause memory corruption which may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the currently logged on user. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the application will terminate unexpectedly. In a more sophisticated attack scenario where code injection is successful, the behaviour of the target host is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. |
