Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Nullsoft Winamp is a multimedia player application that is capable of playing many formats of audio and video files. Winamp can play CD tracks, MP3 music files or MPEG video files as well as numerous other formats. It is also capable of reading CAF media file which has file extension .caf. A vulnerability exists in the CAF (Core Audio Format) file parsing component of Nullsoft Winamp. The vulnerability is caused by improper handling of CAF media file header. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing the user to open a crafted CAF file. Upon an unsuccessful attempt to inject and execute code via this vulnerability, the Winamp player may terminate. In an attack scenario where arbitrary code is injected and executed on the target machine, the behaviour of the target host is dependent on the intention of the malicious code. Any code injected into the vulnerable program would execute in the security context of the currently logged in user. |
