Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description ASPX Spy, is an ASPX program that allows easy control over a compromised web server. Using this program, an attacker can upload files through the web browser and execute them. A remote attacker may exploit web application vulnerabilities that will allow him to upload the ASPX Spy tool to a target server without any validation. ASPX Spy is a .NET webshell that facilitates the uploading and execution of files on web servers. The attacker will be able to upload other exploits to the web server using this tool without being discovered by Antivirus software or other security products.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block the ASPX Spy tool.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the ASPX Spy protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Server Enforcement Violation.
Attack Information:  ASPX Spy
