Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Most modern web browsers support the Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML) application programming interface (API). The DHTML API may be utilized to manipulate HTML objects, events, properties and methods exposed by the DHTML object model. The window object offers several methods to manipulate the browser window. A vulnerability exists in the way multiple browsers reference a popup window. A malicious web site can replace content of another site's popup window if the target name of the window is known. This can be used to spoof the content of a popup window opened from a trusted web site. The client will not experience any abnormal behavior during the attack. The generated popup window looks as if it was created by a trusted site. If the attacker carefully crafts the content of the popup window to match the content of the trusted site, the user may be tricked into disclosing sensitive information. |
