Vulnerability Description | The Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) is a transaction infrastructure for distributed systems. It is implemented on the Windows platform as a service. The MSDTC facilitates the interactions between independent programs in a distributed system. A denial of service vulnerability exists in the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) component of Microsoft Windows. The flaw exists in the code that processes Transaction Internet Protocol (TIP) responses from remote servers. Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to terminate the DTC service. In a successful attack case, the Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service terminates. All MSDTC dependent services and applications are affected as well. |
