Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | Computer Associates (CA) provides numerous product suites that provide network-monitoring functionality, manage network asset discovery, software deployment, and patch management. These capabilities are contained in the CA Unicenter product suites. The numerous components that are provided, contain unique functionalities in addition to some common traits and services. One of the services that is common to all Unicenter products is the Message Queuing (MQ) service. A vulnerability exists in multiple Computer Associates products which embed the Message Queuing component. The flaw exists in the affected component's failure to impose proper boundary checks on user supplied data. This vulnerability may by exploited to inject and execute arbitrary code on the affected host. In a successful attack, where an attacker can inject code into the vulnerable target, the behavior of the target is dependent on the intention of the malicious code. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the vulnerable application may terminate abnormally. Note that any code executed by the attacker runs with the privileges of the affected product, normally System on Windows systems. |
