Vulnerability Description | The Research In Motion (RIM) BlackBerry Enterprise Server is a component that integrates with an enterprise email server in order to extend its functionality. BlackBerry Enterprise Server integrates with messaging platforms such as the Microsoft Exchange Server and other corporate application servers to provide a centralized link between wireless networks, and BlackBerry devices. There exists a denial of service vulnerability in the RIM BlackBerry Server product. The communication between BlackBerry routers may be disrupted by sending crafted Server Routing Protocol (SRP) messages. A remote unauthenticated attacker can cause a denial of service condition of the affected BlackBerry service. A successful attack against this vulnerability may result in termination of the BlackBerry router process. This will disrupt the communication flow between the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry router components resulting in a denial of service of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. This will consequently prevent messages from being relayed to BlackBerry client devices. |
