Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE). The vulnerability is caused due to improper checking of parameters passed to natively implemented class methods. A remote attacker may leverage this vulnerability to inject and execute arbitrary code on the target host, in the context of the currently logged in user. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the application that runs as the Java applet container (usually the web browser) will terminate abnormally. In a more sophisticated attack where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target host is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The code in such a case would execute within the security context of the currently logged in user. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.
