Vulnerability Description | Microsoft Visio is a diagramming application that is part of the Microsoft Office suite. Microsoft Office is a popular productivity application suite released by Microsoft Corporation. It includes a word processor, a spreadsheet application, a presentation editor, and a number of other applications and components. A remote code-execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Visio. The vulnerability is due to an incorrectly handling the parsing of a packed object. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing the target user to open a crafted Microsoft Visio file, potentially causing arbitrary code to be injected and executed in the security context of the current user. In case of an attack where code injection and execution is successful, the behavior of the target will depend on the intended purpose of the injected code. Any code injected will be executed within the security context of the currently logged in user. In case of an attack where code injection is not successful, Microsoft Visio will terminate resulting in the loss of any unsaved data from the current session. |
