Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description GStreamer is a pipeline based multimedia framework written in the C programming language. GStreamer allows a programmer to create a variety of media-handling components, including simple audio playback, audio and video playback, recording, streaming, and editing. The pipeline design serves as a base to create many types of multimedia applications such as video editors, streaming media broadcasters, and media players. There exists multiple heap overflow vulnerabilities in GStreamer framework library. The vulnerabilities are due to insufficient input validation when parsing QuickTime media files. A remote attacker can exploit these vulnerabilities by enticing the target user to open malicious QuickTime media files. In an attack case where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The code in such a case would execute within the security context of the current user. In an attack case where code injection is not successful, the affected application using GStreamer will terminate abnormally.
