Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | HP OpenView product consists of a suite of network and system management software applications developed by HP. It includes hundreds of optional modules and components, such as OpenView Quality Manager, OpenView Performance Insight, OpenView Network Node Manager, etc. A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in HP Network Node Manager that could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. The flaw is due to a boundary error when processing crafted packets sent to the server. Remote attackers could exploit this vulnerability by sending a HTTP request to the affected TCP port. In a sophisticated attack where code injection is successful, the behavior of the target is entirely dependent on the intended function of the injected code. The injected code in such a case would execute within the security context of the service. |
