Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description HP Power Manager is a web-based application for managing a HP Uninterruptible Power System (UPS). A directory traversal vulnerability has been reported in HP Power Manager. The vulnerability is due to an input validation error while processing parameters sent to a certain form of the web based management web server. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to overwrite arbitrary files with attacker-controlled data on the target system by sending malicious HTTP requests. Successful exploitation of this issue could lead to injection and execution of arbitrary code on the target system.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the HP Power Manager formExportDataLogs Directory Traversal protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  HP Products Protection Violation.
