Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Trend Micro's Internet Security Pro 2010 is a PC security suite which includes a large suite of features such as antivirus and antispyware protection, a firewall, keylogger detection, and more. The suite also includes remote backup and restore capabilities in addition to smart phone protection. A rempte code execution vulnerability has been reported in the Trend Micro Security Pro 2010 ActiveX control. The vulnerability is due to an error while parsing a parameter to the extSetOwner function. A rmote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by enticing a user to visit a maliciously crafted web site. This can result in code execution under the privileges of the web browser.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Trend Micro Internet Security Pro ActiveX extSetOwner Remote Code Execution protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Client Enforcement Violation.
