Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description The Adobe Flash Player is a multimedia and application player that renders Shockwave Flash (SWF) files. A code execution vulnerability has been reported in Adobe Flash Player and the "authplay.dll" file that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat products. The vulnerability is due to the authplay.dll component that ships with Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.x. A remote attacker might exploit this issue by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted PDF file that contains SWF content. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Adobe Multiple Products authplay.dll PDF File Code Execution (APSA10-01) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
