Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description The Adobe Flash Player is a multimedia and application player that renders Shockwave Flash (SWF) files. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Adobe Flash Player. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability to take complete control of the affected system. The vulnerability is due to a use after free error in the Adobe Flash Player. A remote attacker might exploit this issue by convincing a victim to open a specially crafted SWF file that contains malformed embedded JPEG. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Protection Overview

This protection detects and blocks SWF files that contain malformed embedded JPEG.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Adobe Flash Player Embedded JPEG Remote Code Execution (APSB10-14) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
