Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description ACCWIZ.dll (Microsoft Access Wizard Controls) is a component of Microsoft Office that provides a library of Access ActiveX controls. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in the way that the AccWizObjects ActiveX control is instantiated by Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. The vulnerability is due to a memory corruption error in the ACCWIZ library that can be taken advantage of by providing the control with specially crafted persisted storage data. To trigger this issue, an attacker may create a malicious web page that will instantiate the affected ACCWIZ.DLL ActiveX control. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will allow an attacker to take complete control of the affected system.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Access ACCWIZ.dll Uninitialized Variable Code Execution (MS10-044) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
