Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description Oracle Secure Backup is a backup solution allowing for centralized tape backup management. The server allows for single point of management of data present on network attached storage (NAS) devices and distributed hosts which may have different operating systems. The data in transit is kept secure by SSL encryption. A command injection vulnerability exists in Oracle Secure Backup server. The vulnerability is due to an improper filtering of user supplied 'other' variable value to the property_box.php script used in the Administration server. An authenticated attacker can exploit this issue by sending a crafted HTTP request to the target server. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands under the credentials of the System account.

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle Secure Backup Administration property_box.php Command Injection protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
