Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description VMware software provides a virtualization technology that allows running multiple instances of x86 and x86-64 virtual computers simultaneously within the hosting operating system. VMware Remote Console provides a mechanism for users and administrators to remotely view and interact with the graphical desktop or command line console of guest operating systems running in VMware based virtual machines. A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in VMware Remote Console (VMrc). The flaw is due to a format string error in the VMrc browser plug-in on Windows-based platforms. This may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by enticing the target user to open a maliciously crafted HTML document. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability will crash the vulnerable application, and may allow execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the logged in user.
