Security Gateway |
Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | The Windows Backup Manager (sdclt.exe) allows users to restore a computer's system files to an earlier point in time. A remote attacker could convince a user to open a legitimate Windows Backup Catalog file (.wbcat) that is located in the same network directory as a specially crafted DLL file. Then, while opening the .wbcat file, Windows Backup Manager could attempt to load the DLL file and execute any code it contained. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow the attacker to take complete control of an affected system. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of suspicious DLL files over CIFS.
