Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | The Cisco WebEx Player is an application that is used to play back WebEx meeting recordings that have been recorded on the computer of an on-line meeting attendee. Cisco WebEx uses the proprietary WRF file format (.wrf extension) to store WebEx meeting recordings on the computer of an on-line meeting attendee. A stack buffer overflow has been reported in Cisco WebEx Player. The vulnerability is due to an error in the Cisco WebEx Player that fails to properly handle specially crafted WRF file. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw by convincing a victim to open a malicious WRF file. Successful exploitation of this issue may allow execution of arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. There are cases in which certain traffic, although not intended for malicious use, is very unsafe, since it may transfer shellcode which is undetectable by IPS. |
This protection detects and blocks the transferring of WRF files over HTTP.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
This protection's log will contain the following information:
Attack Name: Content Protection Violation.
