Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in in the way that Microsoft Internet Explorer accesses an object that has not been correctly initialized or has been deleted. A remote attacker could exploit the vulnerability by constructing a specially crafted Web page.Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the logged-on user, allowing the attacker to install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.

Protection Overview

This protection detects and prevent access to such specially crafted Web pages.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Internet Explorer VML related src URL Memory Corruption (MS11-052) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
