Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A Remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by enticing an unsuspecting user to first open a specially crafted web page and then log in to the target service. A session fixation vulnerability has been reported in Oracle WebLogic Server. This is a session fixation vulnerability. The vulnerability is due to an error in the way that WebLogic Server processes session IDs, which may possibly lead to a session fixation in the affected service. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may enable an attacker to take control over the victim’s account, allowing him to access unauthorized information and perform actions on the victim’s behalf.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to exploit this vulnerability.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Oracle WebLogic Server Session Fixation protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:
