Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft Internet Explorer. A remote attacker could exploit this issue to cause a memory corruption in a way that will enable him to execute arbitrary code in the context of the logged-on user. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may cause the application to crash in a way that may allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the security context of the logged in user.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to open a malicious web page.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70 / R65

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Internet Explorer Window Open Race Condition (MS11-057) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Client Enforcement Violation.
