Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description The vulnerability is due to a vulnerable Java applet that is installed on a browser by the Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) server. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by enticing a target user to open a malicious web-page using a Java-enabled Web-browser. Successful exploitation may allow an attacker to take complete control of an affected system, in the security context of the logged on user.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block the transferring of vulnerable .JAR files by the UAG server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Forefront UAG Poisoned Cup of Code Execution (MS11-079) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Security Products Enforcement Violation.
