Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description An information disclosure vulnerability has been reported in Apache httpd server. The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation by the server while using the RewriteRule or ProxyPassMatch directives. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by sending a series of specially crafted requests to an affected httpd server. Successful exploitation would allow an attacker to read data which was not intended to be disclosed from the server.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block attempts to transfer malicious HTTP requests to the server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Apache HTTPD mod_proxy Information Disclosure protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Apache Server Protection Violation.
Attack Information:  Apache HTTPD mod_proxy information disclosure
