Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Microsoft PowerPoint. The vulnerability is due to memory corruption in PowerPoint while reading an invalid record in a specially crafted PowerPoint file. A remote attacker may exploit this vulnerability by convincing a target user to open a specially crafted PowerPoint file, usually included as an email attachment or on a malicious web site. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain the same user rights as the logged-on user. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of specially crafted PowerPoint files.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
