Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center. The vulnerability is caused due to a memory corruption condition while parsing specially crafted DVR-MS media files. A remote attacker could trigger this issue by enticing an unsuspecting user to open a malformed .dvr-ms file with an affected version of Microsoft Media Player or Media Center. Successful exploitation would allow an attacker to gain complete control over an affected system, in the security context of the logged on user. |
IPS will detect and block the transferring of malicious .dvr-ms files.
