Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A remote code execution vulnerability has been reported in Apple QuickTime. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of certain values while handling JPEG 2000 files. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by enticing target users to open a specially crafted JPEG 2000 file with an affected version of QuickTime media player. Successful exploitation could cause a memory corruption in such a way that would allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system. |
This protection will detect and block malicious JPEG 2000 files.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
