Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in EMC Data Protection Advisor. The vulnerability is due to a NULL pointer dereference when handling a specially crafted AUTHENTICATECONNECTION message. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending a specially crafted request to the affected service. Successful exploitation would cause the target to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition. |
This protection will detect and block the transferring of specially crafted requests.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
