Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A denial of service vulnerability has been reported in RealNetworks Helix server. The vulnerability is due to the improper handling of specially crafted AgentX Open-PDU requests by the SNMP Master Agent process. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted request to an affected server. Successful exploitation would cause the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service condition.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block the transferring of a malicious request to the target server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the RealNetworks Helix Server SNMP Master Agent Open-PDU Denial of Service protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Server Enforcement Violation.
