Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description An SQL injection vulnerability has been reported in Symantec Web Gateway. The vulnerability is due to insufficient sanitization of the id HTTP parameter in GET requests. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted HTTP request to the vulnerable server. Successful exploitation will allow an attacker to execute SQL commands on the server, possibly resulting in a DoS condition or sensitive information disclosure.

Protection Overview

This protection will detect and block specially crafted HTTP requests sent to the server.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Symantec Web Gateway blocked.php Blind SQL Injection protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.

This protection's log will contain the following information:

Attack Name:  Web Client Enforcement Violation.
Attack Information:  Symantec Web Gateway blocked.php blind SQL injection
