Who is Vulnerable?
Vulnerability Description A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows' NFS server implementation.
The vulnerability is due to incorrect handling of a non-permitted operation. A remote attacker could trigger this flaw by mounting an NFS share that is exported as read-only and then issue a RENAME command on a file in that share, a NULL pointer dereference occurs. This causes the vulnerable system to crash, causing a denial-of-service condition.

In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.

Security Gateway R80 / R77 / R75 / R71 / R70

  1. In the IPS tab, click Protections and find the Microsoft Windows NFS Server NULL Pointer Dereference (MS13-014) protection using the Search tool and Edit the protection's settings.
  2. Install policy on all Security Gateways.
