Who is Vulnerable? | |
Vulnerability Description | A denial of service vulnerability exists in Microsoft SharePoint Server. The vulnerability is caused when Microsoft SharePoint does not properly handle starting an unassigned workflow. A remote attacker may exploit this issue by entering a specially crafted URL to a system running an affected version of SharePoint Server. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could cause the W3WP process on an affected version of SharePoint Server to terminate, causing the SharePoint site, and any other sites running under that process, to become unavailable until the process is restarted. |
This protection will detect and block attempts to send specially crafted URLs.
In order for the protection to be activated, update your Security Gateway product to the latest IPS update. For information on how to update IPS, go to SBP-2006-05, click on Protection tab and select the version of your choice.
